I-Beam/H-Beam Calculator 1.0
David Schack
This is a simple calculator that calculatesthe geometric properties of an I beam (also known as an H-beam,W-beam or Wide Flange Beam). To use this app, enter the Flange Thickness, Flange Width, WebThickness and Depth of the beam (diagram of what each dimensionrefers to is above with the screenshots). The app will thencalculate the cross sectional area of the beam, as well as theMoment of Inertia, Radius of Gyration, and S for both the x-x(strong) and y-y (weak) axes, with units consistent with thoseinputted. It may be necessary to scroll down to see all of thecalculated numbers. If you wish to calculate Q, then you must also select the axisthat you would like to calculate Q in relation to. The default isthe x-x axis (strong axis), and this is almost always the desiredchoice. If you wish to calculate Q at a point that is not on thecentroidal axis, you may also enter a distance in the "Distancefrom Centroid:" field corresponding to the location of yourpoint. This app is particularly useful for students in mechanics ofmaterials, or others wishing to calculate stresses in a beam. Equivalent Resistance Calc. 1.0
David Schack
This app calculates equivalent resistance ofseries/parallel circuits. It uses standard notation with "/"replacing "||" for ease of data entry (i.e. 4+3/5 instead of4+3||5). This allows for quick entry on complicated series/parallelcombinations of resistors. Very useful for students taking anintroduction to circuits or physics course, as it allows the quickcalculation of equivalent resistance without typing reciprocalsinto your calculator. Parenthesis are parsed properly, and the "/"operator takes precedence over the + operator. So 4+3/5 evaluatesas 4+(3/5). For those unfamiliar with series/parallel notation, the+ operator denotes two elements in series, while the / operatordenotes 2 elements in parallel. So 4+3 means a 4 and a 3 ohmresistor are in series, 4/3 means a 4 and a 3 ohm resistor are inparallel, and 4/3+5 means a 4 and a 3 ohm resistor are in parallel, and that combination is in series with a 5 ohm resistor. Hope youenjoy, and let me know if you have any feedback on the app. I amvery responsive to bug reports and feature requests.
Shear Stress Calculator - Tube 1.0

This app is a simple calculator of valuesusedin the formula τ=Tc/J. Input as many values as you know aboutthesystem, and the app will calculate all other values it ispossibleto calculate from the information given. Very usefulforengineering students in mechanics of materials. After tappingthecalculate button, the clear button must be tapped beforeenteringnew values. Enjoy and let me know if you have anyfeedback!
